Workshop 2013 Course Objectives
- To present an overview of the current state of genetic screening of gametes and embryos in the field of IVF
- To offer expert hands-on training in the techniques related to the genetic screening: biopsy of polar body, biopsy of blastomeres, preparation of cell material for genetic analysis, FISH on spermatozoa, CGH on polar bodies, CGH on blastomeres or trophectoderm cells
- To offer an insight in good clinical practice for genetic screening in an IVF Unit
- To offer a platform for discussion between experts and participants in an informal structured way
Hands-on Workshop topics
- FISH on spermatozoa
- Biopsy techniques: Polar body biopsy and blastomere and trophectoderm biopsy
- Preparation of cells for CGH and FISH
- CGH analysis on cellular material
Target Audience
The target audience consists of scientists, embryologists, clinical geneticists and gynaecologists working in IVF, PGD and PGS, interested to improve their theoretical and hands-on skills on genetic screening of gametes and embryos
